WTF is up with the media?
I try not to watch the news in order to avoid the biased views that stations add to their stories. Instead I usually opt for BBC.com and other news sites to get my info. Last night though, I had some guests over and somehow the television ended up parked on a local news station. It’s amazing the non-sense that these people find the time to report about. There are people dying from starvation in Haiti, victims of unbelievable violence in Darfur, suffering from HIV/AIDS in record numbers in Africa, but none of this was newsworthy. Instead, the reporter focused two little girls who wanted to run a fruit stand in some little suburban town in California. Seriously? Come on! A Black woman was beaten viciously by police in Berkeley the day before but that never made it to the air waves. Right about now, I would really appreciate a television news station that reported on things that actually matter.

I personally do agree with what you say about media and specifically news. However, the point of view that those news corporations have is very different from that of you and me, they don't bother putting news like that because they don't believe that its important and that the audience will be pleased by that. I can be wrong but it could also be because of the advertisements that they get, they want people to stick to their tv and for that they only show things/news that are relatively soothing and don't pressure the audience and so that they don't turn the tv off.
