US Marine Commits Animal Cruelty
US Marine Commits Animal Cruelty
Many of you have likely seen or heard of the recent YouTube clip of a US Marine throwing an innocent puppy off of a cliff earlier this month. Though the horrifying clip is currently “under investigation” by military officials, the level of unrest it inspired among viewers across the states and globe is still unresolved. What does this message communicate about the integrity of US soldiers? Can we ever take their line of work seriously after seeing this unspeakable behavior? The soldier’s antics in the video clearly demonstrate a complete lack of remorse and confirms the perception that the military is a destructive force by nature and is in fact more harmful than helpful. Will G.I. Joe, who was once a popular heroic icon for children, fall even farther from our good graces after the outrage from this video clip? I’m inclined to think so.

Yeah, there also seems to be a great of PTSD among soldiers resulting in a good deal of physical and mental abuse towards woman.
I'll be honest, I was a bit disturbed by this comment:

While I understand where you're coming from, this Marine does not and should not represent our military. The majority of soldiers I know (and I know a lot) are good people who would never, ever do something as horrific as we saw in that video.
And I also understand why you would feel negatively towards our military, but regardless of how you feel, we have to face the fact that the military does protect our freedom. And for that, I am grateful.
Perhaps the phrase should have been posed as a question rather than as a statement. I see where you're coming from and would like to clarify. I was merely confirming a perception in regards to the Marine's abhorrent behavior. I do not wish to label all militaristic sentiment as vile and unhelpful, as you are correct in much of what they do protects our freedom. Thanks for your honest perspective.
